This Sunday, January 24, 2016, six:eight will not meet for an in-person church service.
We will, however, have the chance to catch up with each other, reflect on this week’s scripture reading, Mark 5:21-43, and pray together in a phone call at 5pm.
Call in number: (641) 715-3580
Access Code: 224-898
Can’t make it, but have a person or a situation you’d like us to lift up in prayer tonight? Leave a comment on our Facebook page, or send an e-mail to pastoramy (at) sixeightucc.org. Thank you! Stay safe and have fun in the snow!
Our first community service project of 2016 is volunteering at the Maryland Food Bank on Saturday, January 30, from noon to 3pm. We always have a great time and they really appreciate our help. We’ll be helping sort food, and our help adds up to thousands of pounds of food donations sorted every time we visit.
Please join us – RSVP to Heather.
Please join us for our Christmas Eve service tonight at 5pm at our usual location, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church on the Avenue in Hampden, across from the Charmery.
All are welcome!
And please give yourself extra time to deal with traffic and parking in the area, since so many are also in Hampden to see the lights on 34th Street.
We’re gathering winter clothing donations for the International Rescue Committee’s Baltimore resettlement center. Bring them to church on Sunday, December, 13, at 5pm. If you want to donate but can’t make it that day, email Heather to arrange a pick-up! IRC is asking for:
Winter Clothing Needs (Children and Adult Sizes):
Winter Coats **Men’s and Women’s Small Sizes Especially Needed**
Long Sleeve Shirts
Winter Pajamas/Long Underwear
In addition, IRC is seeking sweaters, jeans, and professional clothing, particularly in men’s and women’s small sizes. IRC also needs children’s clothing, ages 2-12. All donations must be clean, gently used and in good condition. If you wouldn’t buy an item in the same condition from a thrift store, then please donate elsewhere.
Also this month, join us on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 6:30pm to again go Christmas caroling at the Keswick Multicare Facility (nursing home) in Hampden! Email Heather to RSVP – all ages welcome!
It’s a huge day for non-profits to receive donations to support their great work – and we’re included in that! It’s been a busy year for us. We’ve been worshiping together in our new home at St. Luke’s on the Avenue in Hampden at 5pm on Sundays, trying out potlucks and fun activities for building community, and volunteering and speaking out with a variety of our partners.
Will you take a few minutes to support our church’s mission of putting faith into action by connecting people with each other, with God, and with making a difference? You can donate online right here!
Thank you to the great crew of volunteers who joined us to plant trees with Blue Water Baltimore on November 21!

Please join us! It usually lasts til 8:15pm and it’s always a fun time.

And save the date: Our October service event will be helping sort food at the Maryland Food Bank on Saturday, October 3 from noon to 3pm.
Pastor Amy is on vacation this week, so instead of our typical Sunday evening worship service, our friend Rev. Terry Fitzgerald will be available at our regular Sunday evening time and location for open chapel time if you need prayer or quiet reflection time.
Church will be back to normal on Sunday, August 23.
